Restorative Practices Means Staying Connected

Restorative practices play a crucial role in helping students navigate the natural challenges of social connection while fostering a strong sense of responsibility and empathy. Young children are still developing their social and emotional skills, and conflicts or misunderstandings are a normal part of their growth. Using open dialogue, active listening, and collaborative problem-solving, students learn to express their feelings, understand different perspectives, and take responsibility for their actions. These practices strengthen relationships and create a supportive and respectful school environment where every child feels valued and heard.

Buddies Unite Year 6 and Prep

The Buddies Program fosters strong relationships between Year 6 students and incoming Prep students, providing a sense of safety, support, and connection. Beginning during orientation and continuing throughout the following year, this program helps young students transition smoothly into school life with the guidance of their older peers. Year 6 buddies act as mentors and role models, offering friendship, reassurance, and practical support in the school environment. This not only builds confidence and belonging for Prep students but also nurtures leadership, empathy, and responsibility in Year 6 students, strengthening the school community as a whole.

School Wide Positive Behaviours

School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) is a whole-school approach that affirms and celebrates student behaviour aligned with the school’s agreed values of Respect, Inclusion, Collaboration adn Kindness. By consistently reinforcing positive behaviours, students develop a clear understanding of expectations across various school environments. This approach ensures fairness, consistency, and encouragement, helping to create a safe and supportive atmosphere where all students can thrive. Through clear routines, structured expectations, and a focus on relationships, SWPB not only promotes respectful interactions but also enhances student engagement and learning, fostering a school culture where every child feels valued and empowered to succeed.
