Although the buses left Rosanna Primary in rain they arrived in Ballarat at Soveriegn Hill in clear weather. Students panned for gold, gave the appropriate oohs and aahs during the gold pouring. Most were a little nervous but adventurous enough to head down into a mine to learn more about the discover of the Welcome Nugget. Classes visited a classroom of the 1850’s where they dressed up and explored the clothing of people at the time. They played games relevant to the era as well as tried their hand at some ink and quill writing!
Wednesday
Students participated in a wide range of learning experiences such as hut building, a low ropes course, the big swing, archery, bike education as well as orienteering. For many it was an opportunity to push beyond their own barriers and choose new challenges.
The night took on life and energy as students donned dress ups and enjoyed 'Rosanna Idol'. The were a broad collection of different acts involving dances, fairytale and movie characters, jokes, quizzes and skits. There was even a special guest judge, Dumbledore! It was a wonderful opportunity to glimpse the talents of so many of our students.
Thursday
The sun and corellas greeted us this morning as we continued to complete a range of activities. As I write students are cocooned in their sleeping bags awaiting a movie. We have enjoyed a wonderfully full few days and, though the weather has been cold, the laughter, new challenges and friendships have warmed us all.
See you all tomorrow.
