The students in 5/6C have enjoyed getting to know our new friends, stick insects 'Duckcena' and 'Treerex'. Over the weekend, the female (Duckcena) shed a layer of her skin and has grown even bigger!
Linda, a scientist from CSL came to the 4/5/6 area. She taught us how to extract DNA from strawberries, told us about the flu and how she makes the vaccine using eggs. It was so fun and interesting!
How she extracted DNA from strawberries: she squashed 2 strawberries then she put dish washing liquid and water in and mushed it up. She added mentholated spirits and the DNA separated from the juice.
Linda was a scientist who showed us how to extract DNA from a strawberry and told us what she does for a job.
She stopped a virus that we wouldn't be able to stop unless we had a bit of it in us.
She showed us how she looked with all the scientist protective gear on. We asked questions about her job.
At Rosanna Primary we are always wanting to make sure that we listen to students and their opinions. Please think carefully about the survey and your responses. Each student is asked to complete the survey once.
The survey is anonymous although you may choose to add your name at the end.
